Here in Christchurch, we’re the largest research and development facility for the Allied Telesis Group, developing market-leading offerings in Software Defined Networking, and Network Security.

The user-facing management applications are critical components of this offering. These applications need to provide an excellent user experience for network administrators who are managing Allied Telesis networks. We are seeking graduate software developers to join our Web Application Development team taking up the challenge of taking these management applications to the next level.

About the role

This is a challenging role where you will use and develop your skills in front and back-end web development to produce outstanding management software for our advanced networking equipment. The role involves varied projects extending existing Allied Telesis web based management technologies as well as greenfield development of our next generation network management systems and tools.

Your skills and experience

The team utilizes the MEAN (Mongo, Express, Angular and NodeJS) stack on a day-to-day basis and we also work with the ELK (Elastic Search, Logstash and Kibana) stack and docker, so experience in those is great.

You’ll also need:

· A basic understanding of the web ecosystem i.e. HTTP, web browsers and other client side web technologies and how they interact with servers

· Fluent in HTML, CSS and JavaScript

· Some experience in a JS framework like React, Angular, Ember or Backbone

· Some experience in server-side development for the web in languages like JS, Java, C# or Go

· Some experience with designing RESTful systems

· Commitment to and understanding of Agile methodologies

Preferred, but not essential

· Experience with CSS pre-processors like SASS and LESS

· Understanding of and some experience with TDD, especially in JavaScript

· Experience in pairing

· Experience with a document oriented database and their various pitfalls

The successful candidates will possess strong written and verbal communication skills and thrive in a dynamic, team-based environment.
